Artist description
Gateway is a European based (Germany) American musical group with their CD “First Cut” currently available exclusively at mp3.com. This CD is a tribute to the 80’s style as it might sound today. The most popular songs thus far have been “Hey, Hey” and “You Are My Love”. “Hey, Hey” is an R&B tune that is having great success in Asia, Africa, Spain, and Europe. It is a great tribute to the late 70’s and early 80’s R&B music. The tune “Hey, Hey” has been downloaded several thousand times in Asia and Europe and has generated great e-mails about this era and style. It is also a featured song at the Yahoo site in Germany. The song “You Are My Love” has also generated thousands of downloads in the United States, Canada, and Europe. “You Are My Love” was included on the “Art To Heart” CD Compilation, (Volume II), supporting the open music format petition, urging electronics and software vendors to pledge to continue their support of open audio file formats. The songs “Please Give Me A Sign", Familiar Faces" and "Looking For Love" are also enjoying popularity in Korea, Japan, Canada, Europe, and the United States. Gateway’s CD “First Cut” was recorded on a Roland VS-880 and the results are outstanding. All the songs on “First Cut” were written (including the lyrics), performed, produced, recorded, and mixed by Mark Lankford. “First Cut” was mastered by Barry Wood @ The Other Room, located in Capistrano Beach, California. Vocalist Wayne Cross contributed the main and most background vocals to this effort with Myong Suk Lankford and Mark Lankford rounding out the background vocals. Mp3.com, besonic.com (Europe), iuma.com, rollingstone.com, atvantagemusic.com, listeningroom.lycos.com, musicbuilder.com, francemp3.com, and sites.netscape.com/marklankford all host Gateway’s music and they are generating massive amounts of traffic for Gateway. Mark’s musical interests are broad and varied. He is currently writing new material that is a tremendous departure from the style of music on his CD “First Cut”. Mark says “My first CD was aimed at the folks who enjoyed the 80’s and some of those tunes were kicking around in my head for years and I just had to put them to music. My next CD will be oriented toward the new millennium with current styles and sounds. Also the first CD was put together at the insistence of some friends and was never intended for commercial release. Not so on CD number two…it will be Y2K material and I think it will be fun. I would also like to add that I really appreciate the fan support I have received from the beginning of this project. I never dreamed that I would get such a positive and enthusiastic reaction from folks about this music. Thanks!” |
