GROOVES MAGAZINE: "(EMERGE RECORDING), sent me a few (sampler) cd-r's that explorethe finite depths of deranged electronica and mind-boggling breakbeats thatcan be accurately summed on Lavender Hill Mob's recent "Stop Preaching ThisGospel" cd-r single/ep. Anita Haxsaw's "Ahax Extrabold Remix" warps and twists with consistentfury on this beat-drenched plethora of rhythms. Her smoothly laden lyricsflow effortlessly and make this mix all the more interesting. "Boygun Remix(Zeitmahl)" reminds me of the hard-punching beats and generally wickedbasslines reminiscent of early Meat Beat Manifesto; while some of thestrangest sounds and pulsing rhythms cling together like super-glue.Besides the rather annoying (James Brown'ish sounding) preacher on "StopPreaching Again," the peculiar samples and breakbeats make for a funky andamusing track. "Stop Preaching This Gospel" sounds like Coldcut beingattacked by a new breed of obscure samples and uniquely fucked up beats;while the depth of eclectic sounds and genuinely warped breakbeats on theclosing track, "Rapping On My Brain," will catch the attention IDM folkswho are after that style of twisted-electronica mixed with strange tappingnoises. With L.H.M.'s abstract eclectronica, be prepared to absorb theirdebut full-length, "MobilFunk," set for release on the Emerge/TimelessEnterprizes imprint this spring/summer. Pietro Da Sacco, Contributing Editor.Grooves Magazine. April 11, 1999"Like rookie race-car drivers out of control at their first Indy 500, this band of no-good hooligans from Philadelphia takes the electronic music world by storm. They dish out whip-cracking breakbeats spiced with everything from Baptist preachers and majestic choral samples to quotes from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The beats stop on a dime, just long enough to interject vocal samples and dazzlingly intricate synth breaks, before jumping back in with a vengeance. They can also take it downtempo with dark, spooky Ambient Breakbeat. Industrial Dance tracks burn hard with searing lead synthesizers; Trip Hop tunes glide over jazzy guitar licks and keep the energy flowing with hyped-up vocal samples. Filed Under: Ambient Breakbeat, Beats & Breaks, Industrial Dance Sounds Like: Meat Beat Manifesto, Funki Porcini, FC Kahuna"---www.listen.com---
