Artist description
Imagine Billy Holiday playing country music with The Rolling Stones. Imagine Sonny & Cher trading vocal blowsover Buddy Holly riffs. Vickie Dubelman's unique, powerful, clear-as-a-bell voice hovers over the gritty country and blues licks of Dr. Dan's weeping Clapton-like guitar. Dylanesque lyrics, a sloppy California groove (Nashville West, baby!) that improvises and jams in the American tradition of jazz without ever leaving that good old rock and roll behind. |

Another old friend, Richie Cannata(Billy Joel, Elton John, The Beach Boys), even stoppedboy to pour his heart out on sax and piano. Press Reviews
"Local Favorites Betty Dylan, who have opened for everyone from Rodney Crowell to Hank Williams III, have penned a great book and CD package, AmericanTrash. The text is smart, perhaps a little self-consciouslyso, though not as self-conscious as either Kerouac or Bukowski andcertainly a lot easier to get into given the dearthof drugs associated with the earlier artists. Onthe accompanying full-length CD, the husband/wife teamDan & Vickie Dubelman trade vocals liek a nuvo-beatChuck E. Weiss and Rickie Lee Jones. It's a well-designed, fullyrealized project; the kind that puts the art back in the word "artists".--Tom Kidd, Music Connection Magazine, May 7, 2001 |
