Artist History
Anita Haxsaw's debut PLUUTONIQUE has been released as an advance promo on both cassette and cd formats. This sexual, sensual, dreamy, hard, funky, tribal jazzy, dark, groovy, pop, goth, electro, thrash, drum n bass, industrial, symphonic music has been catching attention of many listeners. The album was produced May of '96 through June of '97 by Shok, a gentleman who has remixed pop acts Fun Lovin Criminals (EMI) to underground bands such as Advent Sleep. He also has completed soundtracks for MIRAMAX and was sited in Billboard magazine as one of the Founding Pioneers of Techno Trance. Shok was completing the final song for the band ZEITMAHL, but could not find the right words or vocalist. He happened to come across a classified add in a local paper: FEMALE VOCALIST/ SONGWRITER """"ready to form a band with creative daring musicians and reach stardom influences: Cardigans, Cocteau Twins, Catherine Wheel, Liquorice, Laika, Luna. Call 215 555 5555"""" He liked most of the bands mentioned but was most impressed not only by the music she liked, but that she even knew who they were, such as Laika . He figured that even if she did not work out as a singer, he would have a new friend who shared music interests. He called her right away and left a message. She called him back within a few hours and they agreed to meet that Friday. When they met, he played her most of the ZEITMAHL album to let her understand where he was. Then he played her the song which needed lyrics and vocals. She liked all of the music, but was honest and admitted that she had never done anything in the style before. She was used to the traditional guitar/ rock band routine. A cassette of the song was given to her so she could work on it. They met the following Friday, and on the first take recorded the song with the backing music, directly to dat (master tape). This is the song “HOME”, the first song on the album which was mixed as is from the first night of recording. After the song had been recorded, the two of them were sitting around, getting aquatinted when she asked Shok about a tune he was playing on the bass. He replied that he was just screwing around. So she offered that she could put words to it, which was the beginning of the writing. A year and a month later June 97, 18 songs were completed, 12 of which would make the final cut for PLUUTONIQUE which is in negotiations with several labels, but yet to be signed. The band ( five musicians ) is currently playing and looking for as many dates as possible to help spread the word. Remix inquiries or promos may be requested by email to EmergeRec@aol.com |
