Artist description The Jazz thing. The band SinQ exists for 2 years now, and it's initially occupied by one person, Sander. He started out composing on a computer six years ago using a mod-tracker (DOS-based) program. It didn't take long before midi arrived. And then... there was Cubase. With MIDI and it's extensive possibilities, another world opened to Sander. After spending some time on breaks and dance (kinda Prodigy), he moved on to Trip Hop and later to the Jazz thing. Inspiration. Being inspired by Kruder and Dorfmeister, SinQ rolled into the grooving beats and smooth Rhodes. The Rhodes provides the lead in most of the songs, as up to now almost every song is instrumental. Sander sticks to the sound of the Rhodes like glue; “I just can't get enough of the smooth sound of the Fender Rhodes”, Sander explains. SinQ's goal is clear; “It is for the listener to experience a range of different levels of moods. Every song has a distinctive feel and I am the tour operator that brings the listener from one to another.” “It provides me with infinite freedom to compose what I like, instead of sticking to one specific style. If I'm in the mood for dance, I create dance. When I'm in for Trip Hop or a Jazzy feel, I simply make it so...”

Artist History Writers block? Sander writes the songs purely driven by emotion. "I usually start off with a drumloop or some percussion and then an extensive period follows of finding just the right piece to go with it. It has to make me feel good, the right mood and atmosphere is very important to me." Sander does not try to fit seven notes in 6 bars. His songs are quite straight forward but without losing the listeners attention. Exposure.. 2001 marks a milestone for SinQ. Moving out of his little room, onto the road of exposure. With this exposure, more people and musicians became interested is his music. Now SinQ has vocals by Suzan and he participates in the Bandcoach Project. Also a professional piano player, Jeroen van Vliet feels intrigued by Sander's music and together they cooperate in creating promising music later in 2001.
