Artist description
"Rock the House", the debut release from Thick As Thieves. The band is described as hard edged and melodic. They are to be considered dangerously addictive and armed to the teeth with rock hard rhythms, searing vocals, blazing leads, and a heavy arsenal of killer tunes. They have stolen the attention of any and all who hear their new release. Approach with extreme caution! YOU MAY BE NEXT! This power trio from the Northeastern United States has turned out a "no holds barred" collection of "melodic hard rock" songs sure to steal it's way onto every radio play list around the world. John Hahn(guitars/backing vocals) John's previous release "Out of the Shadows" on Leviathan Records (U.S.), Zero Records (Japan), and Killerwatt(Europe) has shot him into the limelight gaining him much international praise and recognition in such publications as "Guitar World", "Guitar School", "Rip", "Guitar Player" and "Guitar for the Practicing Musician". As for live experience, John has covered MANY miles on the road, touring the U.S. and Canada an average of 4 nights a week for 8 years; that's over 1600 shows!! In Thick As Thieves, John's "over the top" playing is evident throughout, from his ripping rhythms in "Rock the House" and "Eye of the Storm", funky groovin' in "Sacrifice" and "Spellbound", to the sweet acoustic lines in "Say Good-bye" and first section of "Shed a Tear". As for solo work, John lights up every track with his unique soloing style that "fuses technique, emotion, dynamics, feel, flash and furry!" His work will definitely thrill guitar enthusiasts. You gotta' hear this boy play!!! Eric Heil (lead Vocals,Bass Guitar)Eric's vocal approach is one of both power and feel, oscillating between aggressive hard rock and soulfully melodic styles, the culmination giving him a very impressive and distinctive tone. His distinctiveness is especially evident on the cuts "Say Good-bye" and "Shed a Tear". Eric then takes on a blues feel in "Spellbound", fires point blank in your face with "Eye of the Storm" and sets back into a sly groove on "Nasty Habit" and "Sacrifice (for Love)". Eric says he's been influenced by the likes of Steve Walsh of Kansas, Ronnie James Dio, Rob Halford and many of the great blues artists past and present. Of these he says, "I think I try to emulate all of them at one time or another and hopefully come up with something entirely new." Well Eric, we really think you have! Rob Mount(Drums/percussion) Rob is a very knowledgeable, technically oriented player of 22 years(twelve of those classically trained). What he brings to Thick As Thieves is raw solid power! Rob has a great "rock feel", not unlike the players he admires, citing such influences as Tommy Aldridge, Scott Travis and Deen Castronovo. Rob's style culminates these influences and brings his own touch to the band. Rob's drumming has been internationally acclaimed while working with members of recording metal group Overkill. Rob's playing is highlighted in the intro and throughout the up-tempo "Eye of the Storm". He lays a heavy groove in such tunes as "Sell My Soul", "Stealin' the Crown" and "Change", and peaks to a crescendo in the final movement of "Shed a Tear". Bottom line, Thick As Thieves is armed and dangerous with a lethal combination of killer tunes, scorching vocals, and superior musicianship. This band is sure to take melodic hard rock to new heights. |
