Artist History
"Audiences are invariably spellbound;
you don't hear background conversation when Zahr
is performing... her voice has that much going on."
~ New Times LA
Known as a musical powerhouse in Los Angeles, Nadine Zahr, 23, has frequently performed at venues such as the Knitting Factory, Temple Bar, Hotel Cafe, and Genghis Cohen. Within the past year, she has toured the West Coast with such artists as Sheila Nicholls (Hollywood Records)
and Bonfire Madigan. Nadine, however, just recently returned
from a solo, bicoastal tour, promoting her new record,
"Digging Through the Dregs," which is receiving
explosive accolades since it's release on August 14th, 2003.
Nadine contains an endless ambition, constantly
stretching herself out-of-the-bounds of her artistry, with more multifarious guitar parts,
deeper lyrics, and mind-blowing vocal styles. |

Press Reviews
Nadine Zahr : Genghis Cohen
Genghis Cohen is a red-walled chapel of music on
Fairfax. Nadine’s sound completes this ethereal feeling
with powerhouse vocals and thrilling percussion. The music
has a pulse that makes your soul smile and cry all in a
forty-five minute set. There’s rhythm that starts at
your feet and shivers up your legs with lyrics
that relate. There is a lot of space in the music,
space for the audience to breathe and also to
really contemplate what’s being conveyed in the
lyrics. Nadine’s drummer, Kyan, is the most creative,
feeling and tasteful percussionist I’ve seen in Los
Angeles. He completes the perfect ebb and flow with
the natural rhythm of the music. The songs embrace
life through all it’s hardships and glories. Even
the “slow depressing ballads”, as she calls them,
have hope and shimmer with light and love. They
speak of self-discovery and self-respect. With
every tune Nadine transports herself to the exact
space she must have been in when writing the words.
Her body language and expressions bring the audience
with her. Ending her set with a song titled “Never
Seemed To Be” left the audience feeling pumped and
forming a line to buy her CD. And Nadine doesn’t seem
too far from bigger stages and brighter lights.
See her while you can in our local scene. She is
surely one of the most charismatic performers in Los Angeles today!
