Artist description
The Joanne Shaw Taylor Band is a five piece band fronted by Joanne (on lead guitar) and Mark Drewit on vocals, with Andy Kirkland on bass, Phil Brittle on drums and Phil Kingston on keyboards. The band plays 'rockin' music combining both blues standards and original blues material. Still only aged 15, Joanne is creating a huge interest in her native West Midlands UK with the maturity and energy of her playing. Joanne must rank as one of the most promising blues guitarists to hit the scene in recent years. Her "attacking style" and "attitude" is setting her apart from many of her contemporaries, and is helping to bring the blues to a new and younger audience. |

Press Reviews
“ Joanne’s own compositions are mature, groovy and passionate. Forgetting that Joanne is just fourteen years old, she plays with more attitude and flare than most. Massive potential here. Inspiring.” - GUITARIST Magazine July 2000. “ Catch her live if you can, then you can say: I was there at the beginning” - Blue Print Magazine “I was blown away by her playing, for someone of such tender years to play with such authority and attack is no mean feat. Her future has to be so bright, it’s almost criminal !” - Pete Nutting, Ace FM “The last thing you expect from the support band’s guitarist, churning out blistering blues licks like a seasoned professional, is to find a pretty blonde female behind the Fender. Joanne displays loads of technique and bags of attitude. The Midlands has given birth to another exciting star- in- waiting.” - David Yeats, Birmingham Evening Mail |
