Dr. Irina Khovanskaya is a well-known pianist graduated from Moscow State Conservatory in Moscow, Russia.She now tours extensively in Europe and in the United States. Dr. Irina Khovanskaya was born on September 9, 1972 in Moscow Region in musicians? family. She started taking piano lessons at the age of four with Anna Artobolevskaya. Irina Khovanskaya gave her first recital at the age of six in Kiev, Ukraine. In 1979 she entered Central Special Music School of Moscow Conservatory where she studied with Anna Artobolevskaya and Alexander Mndoyantz. In 1980 Irina Khovanskaya played a concert within framework of The Fall Festival in Leningrad. In 1981 she traveled to the city of Volgograd to play Haydn Piano Concerto in D Major with Volgograd Symphony Orchestra. In 1982 she played a concert for Russian Space Center in Moscow Region. While studying at the Moscow Central Special Music School she gave numerous concerts in the MCSMS Hall and in the Small Hall of Moscow Conservatory. In 1987 Irina Khovanskaya was invited to play Arensky?s Fantasia on the Theme of Ryabinin for piano and orchestra with Russian Folk Symphony Orchestra under Nicolay Nekrasov on the USSR TV. In 1990 Irina Khovanskaya entered Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory. During her education in Moscow Conservatory her teacher was Professor Victor Merzhanov. She gave numerous recitals in Moscow ( Great, Small and Rachmaninov Halls of Moscow Conservatory; Goldenveiser?s Museum; Gagarin Concert Hall; Historical State Museum; Revolution State Museum), Tambov (Rachmaninov Music College), Vladimir (Philharmony), Novgorod (Philharmony) and many other cities in Russia. In 1992 she played Weber?s Konzertstuck with Moscow Symphony Orchestra under Sergey Skripka. She also played abroad Russia: in Switzerland (Zurich), Germany (Munchen), Belgium (Brussels) and Poland (Warsaw). In 1993 Irina Khovanskaya got a Special Prize of Jury on the 1st Rachmaninov International Piano Competition in Moscow, Russia. During this competition there was made a recording of her performance on All-Russian Radio. Also she participated in the ARD International Piano Competition in Munchen, Germany in 1993 and in the Queen Elisabeth International Piano Competition in Brussels, Belgium in 1995. In 1999 she won First Prize on the Texas Steinway Society Piano Competition in Dallas, Texas, U.S.A.. She took part in International Piano Master Classes with Professor Rudolf Buchbinder in Zurich, Switzerland (1996 and 1997). She has lots of recordings in Russia (USSR TV and Radio), Compact Disc in Poland (1997) and on NBC in the United States (1999).In 1996-1998 Irina Khovanskaya was a member of ?Da camera e da chiesa? Moscow chamber ensemble under Victor Felitziant. This ensemble toured extensively in Russia and abroad. Concerts were given within framework of World?s Chamber Music Masterpieces Historical Concerts founded by ?Da camera e da chiesa? chamber ensemble. This concert series took place in Moscow State Historical Museum, Moscow State Museum of Revolution, Stanislavsky?s Museum, Rachmaninov Hall of Moscow Conservatory, Moscow Concert Exhibition Gagarin Hall, Tchekhov?s Museum in Melikhovo and Astafievo State Museum. Among the compositions they played were works by Alyabiev, Arensky, Glinka, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Mendelsohn, Schubert, Mozart and Beethoven. She graduated from Moscow State Conservatory in 1996 with Diploma of honors. During next two years (1997-1998) she studied in the Post-graduate of Moscow Conservatory with Professor Victor Merzhanov.Now Dr. Irina Khovanskaya lives in San Antonio, Texas where she plays recitals. |
