    Press Reviews
critics : As appeared on the Advertiser newspaper 9.10.2000 Salomone Rossi, his music, byt Elizabeth Silsbury "The text was spoken in Italian and French, the subtitlesweremin Habrew. Panic. One of a series of films about Jewish composers, this chapter concentrating about the music of salomone Rossi, who lived in Italy around 1570 to 1630, was to be shown as an introduction to a concert by the Israeli trio Musica Intavolata. To the rescue came its recorder player, Drora Bruck, whose unobtrusive translation and commentary proved as fluent and ingenious as her playing. And she let the droll wit lurking behind her music-making show its funny, clever face. -------------------------------------------------------- and as the festival was summed up " ...New to the BMF and australia was the Israeli Baroque Trio Musica intavolata - players of outstanding talent as musicians and entertainers..." _____________________________________________ Near perfect Intavolata Bond Store, Saltram, Sunday _______________________ Musica Intavolata takes its name from the era of its repertoire, namely the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, when most scores were written in tablature - much like the charts on which music for plucked strings is recorded today. Not only their music but the manner of their making of it invokes a time when players got together for the sheer fun of it. Besides being strong individuals in their own right, Drora Bruck (recorders), Isidoro Roitman (lute) and Miri Singer (harpsichord) are a close-knit team, treating each other with rare respect and involving themselves quiete demonstrably in each others solos as though providing an extra measure of encouragement. Playing as duo - recorder with lute or keyboard - and trio, their ensemble was as near perfect as it comes. There is obviously a high level of natural empathy, but nothing is left to chance, and pains are taken to ensure that reciprocal gestures and faithfully matched for tone and phrasing and that cadences, whether conventional or quirky, are in complete agreement. The recorder of Drora Bruck carried most of the load and offered most of the surprises. In almost all of the pieces, passages proceeding quite sedately would suddenly erupt into elaborate flourishes of scales and trills, often executed with astonishing breath control. Likewise the fluency of Miri Singer at the Schauumloffel harpsichord, negotiating intricate sets of variations with a skill that demonstrated not only her own prowess but inspired wonderment at the apparently unlimited ingenuity that her composers brought to bear on quite simple themes. The distinctive style of lutenist Isidoro Roitman, full of character and beaming with pleasure, was most disarming in a Pavine by Ferrabosco, and the trio closed their concert with a rousing - relatively speaking romp through a Frescobaldi Gagliard. Intavolata will show their wares in four different programs over the next week. Not to be missed, and greatly to be savored. Elizabeth Silsbury. The Advertiser, Adelaide, october 2nd 2000 "Drora Bruck produced on the recorder a soft, round and pure sound, and demonstrated swift fingered virtuosity far exceeding what one would normally expect of these instruments." ( Uri Epstein, haartez) "My immediate impression on hearing Drora play was one of recognition for a very special musical talent." ( andrew King ) "Isidoro Roitman is a unique and excellent musician" ( Roberto Gini ) "Isidoro Roitman is a virtuoso lute player " ( Uri Epstein )
