Artist History
The Great Hill Mountain Band formed in the fall of 1993 when Luke got together with brother John and cousin Dan in John's basement. Rounding out the group were Greg Johnson on keyboards and Paul Sienkiewicz on guitar and vocals. Paul went solo in early 1994 and was replaced by uncle Don and friend Michael. Greg left in the spring of 1994 to play with the Whiskey River Band, and the lineup has remained stable ever since. The boys played their first gig at Portland's famous Winchester Cafe in April of '94, and ever since have been seen at bars, fairs, and festivals throughout Connecticut. Every summer, the boys have also made a long weekend of music and mayhem in the woods around Rangely, Maine, courtesy of Don's (and sort of Dan's) remote lakeside cabin. When selecting material, the band doesn't follow any set of rules except one: No love songs, unless they really, really like them! As a result, the bulk of their material is found either on the country charts of several years back, or in the deeper album cuts of some of their favorite singers. The band has been venturing into original music over the last three years, and is putting finishing touches on their first CD. Tracks will be posted to MP3.com as they near completion. The final version of the album should be ready in early 2001. |
