Artist History Since 1992, the name of PLATANUS does stand for unconventional intensity, experimental flexibility and emotional authencity. In their songs, PLATANUS tell about the mania of man, about beloved hatred and hateful love, about the abysmal truth with all it's tedium lies.In 1997 they first expressed their cosmopolitan adversity by the means of a demo-tape. DISCO VERY. In the same year, the opening song "The Crush" issued on the CD-Compilation MEGACCUSTICA II (Riptone Records).1998 entailed a chance meeting with the miraculous soundness of a stereo jack called CS. After a phase of You-Show-Me-Yours/I-Show-You-Mine they finally decided on doing conjoint projects and live shows.In March 1999 PLATANUS and CS inclosed themselves in the SUBSONIC STUDIO of Carlos Silva - a man who's outstanding productions for SUDDEN DEATH and MORBUS justified the trust put into his work.TESTSET is a shining reflectance of the headstrong complexion of PLATANUS, enriched with a five-polar interpretation and the hidden side-effects caused by secret collegue CS. This all makes a blend, that evaporates the recently emerging tidal wave of Hipmetal to a superfluous drop.In 2000 TESTSET’s „can you hear me“ issued on DEATH-O-PHOBIA II (EARTH A.D. Press Reviews [...] very interesting band from Germany that knows the Thrash roots. PLATANUS play complex Thrash Metal, no doubt about that, their music has strong Bay Area parts, adding some psychotic parts and using rough and sometimes clear vocals in one song. With cool-arranged killer songs as "Nightmary" they are on the best way to follow the path of VOIVOD and partly MESHUGGAH [...] // SNAKEPIT [...] this is the kind of experimantal-thrash-sci-fi stuff that Voivod did in their best days […] cool stuff for those who loved the aforementioned Canadians or DBC’s “Universe” disc. // CHAOS REALM
