Press Reviews
Mixmag on the Materialistik album: Dutch techno meister Jeffrey de Gans debut album offers a unique view of techno's various styles and melts them into a jack-tracking, acid trance brew that hints at the early output from speedy J, Richie Hawtin and John Acquaviva. Check the mobile phone interference and chicago jack shifts of "Phonky Phone" or the minimal moves of "Run Redone" with it's non-symmetrical hihats over reverbed bass pulses. Like classic gear from the +8 label in fact. Martin James **** |
