Press Reviews
Wow, the show with never-ending problems. First off, the venue (Club Liquid) never came to unlock the place. So the promoters had to do mad scrambling to find a place to have the show. Also, the line up had to be adjusted. The original lineup was Sky Came Falling, Thursday, Fairweather, Set Ablaze, and Hollowd. Fairweather was stuck in NC due to van problems, and Hollowd are a bunch of pussies who didn't want to move to the new venue.
The guys in Christiana were cool enough to host the show at their place. And, they put on a really good show in place of Hollowd's expectedly boring Korn-mosh set. Christiana were tight and their sound was good. Imagine Fugazi with lots of screaming and a hardcore edge. They seemed like they were really into their music. They get better every time I see them. They're coming out with an EP sometime after the end of summer, so make sure to check it out.
Set Ablaze played their second show here. They're a straight up metal act with occasional death vocals. They were pretty tight, despite lacking a bassist. There was dancing despite the lack of space in the tiny basement. They started off with "Apologetic Cadaver", the first track of their new EP. Look for it in the music reviews section.
Thursday finally managed to find their way to the new venue and put on an amazing set. The basement was packed and it was hot as hell. Kids were singing along constantly and Thursday was feeding off of it. They mostly played material off of their new one, "Full Collapse." Their great set left me wishing I knew their songs better.
Many people had left when Sky Came Falling set up. That is a shame because "10.21" is a great CD and the band puts on a good show. Highlights of their set were "Laura Palmer" and "With Paper Wings." They were right in the crowds face and it was a good time. I hope I can see them again.
This was a really fun show and it was great to go to a basement show, despite the heat. It seemed like all the bands had a good time and I hope all the shows in Lancaster continue to be this fun. Thanks to the guys in Christiana for letting everyone use their house.
