Artist History
A chance encounter, a visit to a party, mutual interest and approach discovered, a repertoire developed, initial concerts, professional commitment, a first CD - and ever onwards ... Baroque music we play as 18th Century Jazz, relaxed and with swing and style, as they did back then. Sonatas for flute and harpsichord were where we started, but with the Digital Harpsichord, wider possibilities have opened up. To that we add jazz classics (Ellington, Fats Waller, a few of Billie´s favourites), pop/rock songs (Frankie Lymon, The Doors, anything that takes our fancy) - and increasingly, our own songs. And here the Digital Harpsichord is really something else! Ever heard jazz played on a harpsichord? Try it! And then what about a song or two dropped into a Baroque sonatas? The French sophistication of Boismortier glides eloquently into a Piaf song, Ellington sits down at the keyboard and trades melodies with Händel, Hoagy Carmichael chips in too. |
