Artist description
Wimple is an alternative rock bandthat hails from Beulaville, NC. The band consists of: Scott Heath (vocals, guitar), Ryan Brown (bass, vocals), Cecil Pittman (drums, vocals), and Chris Jones (guitar, vocals). The band members have varied musical tastes and influences and although they do not attempt to emulate any particular artist, the comparisons are inevitable. The band formed in the Fall of 1998 when Cecil and Ryan decided to form a band. Scott, a co-worker of Ryan's, was ask to join the band as lead guitarist and vocalist. Seeing the need for another Guitarist and someone to play keyboards, calls were made and Chris joined the band in late November 1998. They group started playing gigs in the Winter of 1998, at the time, Scott was the primary lead vocalist. To give Scott a break during the shows, Mark Byrd, lead singer of the band Harvester, was initiated. Mark started as a guest performer in January 1999 and currently does at least two sets during a show. Mr Wimple has shared the stage with bands that included members of Sony signed band, Sex, Love and Money, and local acts: Cry of Love, Pure T Mommicked, Slow Children Playing, and Flog . Mr Wimple is in the process of recording their first full length CD entitled "Dropping the Mr.". The project was engineered, recorded, mixed and produced by the band at Scott's "Studio 1866". Thus, the band was able to relax and take the time needed to capture their unique blend of music. Press Reviews
The Mr. just got dropped, and he was pounding everyone in the way on his way down as the boys from Wimple unleashed their new sound and took aim at the candy-ass ideas of today's popular alternative music world. The Beulaville, North Carolina quartet, Wimple has attempted to bring a definitive end to the fairytale world of new school alternative rock bands with the release of their over anticipated first CD, "Dropping the Mr.". The CD is a loaded chamber of solid bottom-end grooves, aggressive and driving guitar lines, sing along vocal melodies and raw, real-world inspired lyrics that spin, as the Mr. Drops into a chamber like a musical game of Russian roulette. Which one of the many "forces" that make up the "Dropping the Mr." CD will hit you next is unknown, but it is a fact that every last one will be dropped on you like a tank on this ten song barrage. I have to say that all the songs on the CD are unapprehensive in nature, the lyrics are emotionally driven and the musicianship encompasses ability and finesse in an uncompromising fashion. Wimple's idea that if it's worth doing it's worth doing right and the objective to leave a lasting impression, really showed, and for that reason this CD did not lack a single ounce of the explosive energy we have came to expect from the Wimple boys. The CD was mixed and mastered by the bands guitarist, Chris Jones, who's crystal-clear knob-turning let's you know there is no escaping the impending doom from the "dropped Mr.". Wimple has once again proved beyond the shadow in a lone alleyway that melody can hold angst and that there is still aggression in catchy hooks. While listening to this CD I soon realized that there was no way to dodge the Mr. that Wimple has dropped upon the unsuspecting alternative music scene, so I just prepared myself and awaited to receive what was coming for me. I guess that's the real reason they say, "Here comes the Wimple!" Wimple is: Scott Heath, Chris Jones, Cecil Pittman, and Ryan Brown.2000 audioupdate.com |
