Artist description
Using computers as their vehicle for musical expression, Tricky OL probes for distinct sonic terra nova. Currently based in Tokyo, members Roddy Schrock and Robert Duckworth comprise this up-and-coming electro-avant-pop duo. Tricky OL creates, if not a borderless music, then at least a music that does not require passports. Finding inspiration in both disparate as well as comparable areas of music, their interest in, or perhaps their complete disregard for "the" future direction of music has led them to collaborate with a number of cutting-edge, internationally-acclaimed sound artists. |

Group Members
After a late start, and despite his best efforts, Robert Duckworth has somehow managed to distract himself with one form of music or another throughout the better part of his teens and twenties. Such distractions have led him to, and away from Athens, Georgia a number of times. Currently he lives in Tokyo, where he now studies music composition as a Bunka-Cho fellow, under the tuteledge of Professor Takehito Shimazu of Fukushima Daigaku. Currently based in Tokyo as well, Roddy Schrock began working in electronic music at the age of 13 by recording conversations and mixing them with music. He furthered his musical ambitions in college by completing a degree in music composition and sociology while concurrently performing as a keyboard player in Saint IV, an all original pop band that combined elements of traditional southern American music with urban electronic sounds. He has collaborated extensively with digital animators and visual artists. His music has been included in the Sonic Circuits VI Festival of Electronic Music. In addition, it has been broadcast on radio stations in America. Prior to moving to Tokyo he was working as a musician and recording technician at Scratch Studios in New York City. |
