Artist History
Yep yep...we are Mary's Laugh....an all female ska/pop/punk band from all parts of Long Island. The band formed around the end of November in 2000. It started with 5 of us actually..then turned in to about 6,594 and now we are down to 7 solid members. We range in ages from 17 to the ripe old age of 23. We LOVE to jam and have fun doing it. Come see us sometime and we are sure you'll have a good ole time! Check our personal bios below to get to know us better and our show page for when you can see us live! Till then...rock on! PS: Be sure to come over and say "HI" at the next show! |

Press Reviews
Mary's Laugh is the ska-punk resurrection of The Go-Go's, complete with surf rock drums and girl group harmonies. If given a chance, Mary's Laugh can revive punk rock again.
Actually, punk rock is making somewhat of a commerical resurgence, with Blink 182 at the top of the charts and Weezer making the comeback of the decade. But artistically, the scene needs Mary's Laugh, which is the punk rock equivalent of a defibrillator.
Kelly and Dee are jubilant, energetic vocalists, who show unflagging enthusiasim and verve, whether they do a cover of "Summer '69" or they beweail horrible service in "Pizza Man." "Action Speaks" is a haunting song of estranged love in the tradititon of Blondie's "Call Me" and No Doubt's "Don't Speak."
But their cover of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" is worth the price of admission. The saxaphone section (Peg Hennessy and Mary Bufardi (the band's name sake) plays mellifluously and Kelly's vocals are full of hurt and regret when she moans, "Some boys take a beautiful girl/ And hide her away from the rest of the world."
My only complaints about the CD are that there are not more songs and it is only a demo, so the production is of poor quality. With a full legnth LP in the works though, Mary's Laugh has a bright future, giving punk rock a much needed kick in the ass.
