Press Reviews
On KOENIGSKINDER, the ten songs sound very well thought out. It's easy to hear that the four members had some experience inother bands before. But in '99 they decided to change their style and started to play the groovy guitar rock they present on this release. In their info, they name King's X and the Galactic Cowboys as influences. That's not a bad description. The Galactic Cowboys influences are alwayspresent: Groovy guitar riffs combined with interesting licks. On Get Ready and Play With Me the arrangements and also the voice reminds me a bit of Dweezil Zappa's catchier tunes. Look Back has a slight progressive touch, due to the intelligent vocalarrangement and the tricky guitar riff. Star-Crossed Lovers' Time is the hymn of the band, with analmost oriental guitar line and a hypnotic chorus. My Thoughts has a very funky guitar lick and alaid back groove. The album ends with Time To Die, a very depressive (like the title tells) track where the singerchanges his voice from singing over growling to screaming. Very interesting is also the virtuoso guitar playing varying from acoustic picking to melodic over harsh riffing to fluent soloing. Also theother songs are on the same high level. With some luck this band could fill the empty space the Galactic Cowboys left after their break-up. Maybe they should contact Atomic Opera for a commonbusiness strategy.
