Artist description A mutual hatred of football,conformity and ignorance brought the original members of Nightmare on Sesame Street together. N.O.S.S. is fondly remembered for their wild, rowdy concerts where just about anything could happen. Anything from smashing guitars, stage diving into the crowd, to dressing up as Sesame Street characters. They even crashed the Oxford High School pep-rally parade with their own anti-football homecoming float. This was pretty crazy stuff for Mississippi in the 1980's. Most of these antics were orchestrated mainly in large part, to getting their political messages to the people of Mississippi and the world. N.O.S.S. opened the floodgates for punk and other diverse music in the Oxford area with their DIY attitude and unforgettable stage performances. N.O.S.S. is gone now, but they will never be forgotten.

Artist History Nightmare on Sesame Street formed on 12/4/87, after Tait left his band,4 Dead Fish (Oxford's first punk band) and joined up with Gentry, Mike and Skull. The band went through numerous line-up changes and played tons o' shows until their eventual demise in March of 1989. Did I mention that these guys were only 14 years old when they started?

Group Members The original lineup: SKULL ROTTEN - twirls the stick and sings. TAIT - Can opener guitar, vocals. GENTRY WEBB - Bass, vocals, smashes stuff. MIKE FEATHERSTONE - Drums. The replacements: JI HOON CHO- second vocalist, screams of oppression. OLIVER GAYCKEN - second drummer. BEN MORGAN - rhythm guitar. KWASI BUFFINGTON - third drummer, vocals. PAUL SCHOENLY - vocals (only one week).
