    Artist History
It's funny, i used to be a classical pianist from 5 years old to 19. In year 1986 to 1989 i had a band that played music like DuranDuran and that kind of stuff. 10 years later i found myself composing Techno & Dance music full time. I guess it's a kind of evolution, don't you?

Wooden Relic Magazine February 1st 2001 :MickyLand a 30 year old artist lives in beautiful Montreal, Quebec,Canada. Lemire has been as an artist on mp3.com since December 21st of 2000.He is a great artist in his field has just only 6 songs at this moment on his site and 3 more that are still in the works. MickyLand has some great accomplishments as far as being recognized by the music industry. Several songs that he wrote was in the top 5 in Canada in there particular genre. "That Other World" one of his great hits went to #1, then "Extazzy" was #3 and another fantastic song "Escape That Night" was #5 .He is a former classical pianist that is known on a national level. You can hear the talent and great compositions from this unique artist. You can see there is allot of time and sweat that goes into his music. He has been playing the piano since the age of 5 . Through allot of practice and patients he grew as a musician. Though he had a pop band in the late 80's, Micky still went back to retrace his roots to what he loved to do. The decision was to stay in the classical field. In the year 2000, he made a drastic move and by giving up allot, he was leaving everything behind to begin composing electronic music as a full time job. In 2001 here he is on mp3.com with not only his music but also a radio station that helps artist get promoted. He's not only a real friend to me but, a great guy to talk to as well. I believe that the future is in the palms of his hands.---------Music Review on March 6th 2001--- MickyLand...man this guy has his mind set. not only is he up to par with some solid dance tracks, the man is ambitious to strive in the world of music. will i play this at parties - yes, will i play mickyland on my computer - already do; is mickyland the type of person who wanna follow in the footsteps of - totally. why? lets just say the mind of MickyLand is overloaded with electric ideas and ways to succeed. he's a new breed of cat, and his music is satisfying. hey Micky, if you're not an NMA, you should be. you got the tunes and the mind to do some serious damage. hook it up.....Frankenstyne. -------- Music Review on March 11th 2001...What's to say? These are some solid dance tracks, composed with a feel for detail. There are a lot of tracks nowadays created with an 'hey what does this switch do attitude, Mickyland's tracks(probably because of his classical background) 'don't push that button unless he really, really wants to. Some people could really learn how to dot their I's and cross their T's here....Donald Hugen. StiGGy vs MickyLand To The Electronic DeathInterviewer: Adam "Stigma" Walker--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Electronic God Dj Stigma Challenges MickyLand the long experienced artist in Dance + Trance to the most personal and technical interview of his time!! Beware Theres a storm brewing!GOM: So whats the biggest kick of Music Production?MickyLand: I feel it 24h a day 7 days a week, it's my life ! I love music from classical to Metallica (in the gym, hehe)GOM: Ha ha Yeah I know Life is music and without music life is without! So...Tell me about your origin and how long has music been invading your life?MickyLand: 'm from Montreal, Canada, my Dad has a master degree in Classical Piano and my Mom was teaching Piano, so i'm very into it since my early years, i began playing Piano at 5 'till 19, at 16 years old, i tought the classical wasn't too popular and that i couldn't live from it so i entered a band that was playing music like DuranDuran & Platinum Blonde, that kind of stuff. We did many live shows in Montreal. But i was still involved in classical, when i turned 19, i entered the National Contest for Classical Music, the main competition was between a guy i knew and me. At the last minute, i declined the contest and he won. I was fed up by classical music at that time, i regret in a certain way that i did it but who knows ? evolution i guessGOM: Ok.....Bet your mate was happy though?? And this is when Electronic music stepped in and drove the way of your future musical creations!! What software and/or hardware do you use to create your traxx??MickyLand: well i went off the music industry for 10 years ! I just started again 4 months ago, when a friend of mine Dj 5th Mars & Paradise talked to me about mp3.com, i opened my website there on december 21st 2000. For what i use: Kawai K5 keyboard, a mic, a computer, many software like Cool Edit Pro, Cubase VST, Sonic Foundry Acid Pro, Cakewalk Pro, Sound Forge and some more...GOM: In Extazzy I could hear quite alot of good old re-birth you use that too??MickyLand: i tried Re-Birth but couldn't compose with it ! My knowledge relatively to computer is a bit limited, 3 years ago i didn't even know how to use one! Now i'm getting better since i'm working on my music (30% composing & 70% promoting) 18h a dayGOM: Ha ha Promoting is the only thing isn't it? I went through a period of time where i got no sleep whatsoever just for promoting!! Do You think mp3.com is now getting too demanding?? Primarily due to the new rule starting on the 1st of april?MickyLand: yeah mp3.com is turning into a bad direction, they needed money, probably because of their many legal problems, now they rip unknown artists, when they remove the lo-fi link from the top charts for the non-Premium Artists, i couldn't afford loosing 100+ listens/day from the top chart ( "Extazzy" is in the top40 since 3 weeks and "Tribal Hypnotism" in the top 5 since 2 weeks now 2nd), thus i signed for it. last week, mp3.com suspended my earnings due to "unusual plays activity", i guess they can't understand that i promote my music out of mp3.com, i have most of my tracks playing on different radio shows etc...GOM: Mp3.com are [off the record] complete con artists!! nowadays they have become crazy!! last week i was put on hold completly due to "Excessive Linking" and they still havn't put my page back on!! do you have any advise for those un-signed artists out there...promote any useful sites you think may aid them.MickyLand: my best advice is not rely on mp3.com to be successful ! I discovered some nice other music sites for artists, such as : www.soundclick.com www.artistlaunch.com www.javamusic.com and some others, and try to give some shows on internet radio like on www.live365.com or www.shoutcast.com . Help other out promote their music if you like it, nobody can tell the future so have backup !GOM: One last question...Where too next MickyLand?MickyLand: Next ? i'm currently working with some promoters : David Goe of SuperStars Made, with Klubheds Records that promote my music too. I'm making my music more available in th NightClubs here in Montreal, in Toronto and in Florida. I'm seeking for a label record now, beside that, i'll promote more ! I have many ideas for new tracks maybe some will be different from the usual electronic style, if you listen to "At Least, say it to me (instrumental)" you'll understand what i mean. The artist who inspired me the most is Yanni, this guy is simply a genius !I wish him the best of luck!! Please all do me a favour and check this artist out Highly recomended by myself "Dj Stigma" "The Conquest" entered the HALL OF FAME !!!ARTIST: MICKYLANDSONG: THE CONQUESTGENRE: INSTRUMENTAL / FILM SOUNDTRACKSIMILAR: HANS ZIMMER --------------------------------------------------------------------------------I was a fan of Mickyland already. I had the opportunity to review his song "The Lost Battle" and gave it lower marks because of its expectations not its quality. This song, however, is aiming for film soundtrack and is hitting as far as I can tell. I've listened to this track now at least 12 times and each time I hear something different, but the images aren't solidified, meaning it hits as film score for any period piece war film. The only thing that pulls this music back a little bit is the fact that it dates the music. Let me explain that last comment...if I was directing a period peice film and needed music I would be all over this song. However, there is a slight (emphasis on slight) mistake with this sound. It's got a slight (emphasis on slight, again) modern feel to it. So, I almost have to be willing to give my period piece a modern musical feel. Not necessarily a negative...check out Plunkett and Macleone...a period piece with techno background music. This has an excellent sound...I can see this music being used in the theatrical trailer! Now, I gotta get going...I need to close my eyes and listen to this one again and again!
