Artist description
BD Unplugged is the acoustic original vehicle for Daniel Phillips. Combining melodies enriched with harmonies, with meaningful lyric content. Big D writes only of things that are personal to him. However, much of the subject matter is universal, hitting home with many listeners.
Utilizing basically an acoustic 12-string guitar for live dates, these originals give him the opportunity to utilize an endless array of musical versatility. Playing keyboards, bass guitar, electric guitar, as well as singing all vocal parts. Having just turned the ripe age of 40 in January,
BD faces the questions we all face in mortality, as well as a lifetime of memories, good and bad, to draw upon for inspiration. In the end, it's all about making you feel something in these songs. |

Artist History
BD started playing guitar in the 6th grade (that would be damn near 30 years ago!). 1st band started in
7th grade--many names before settling on...yes..Free Bird. That band lasted into my senior year surviving the
death of bandmate. FreeLine combined two high school bands, and played another 3 years. FreeLine provided my first bar experiences,
and roadtrips! But, it all ended in 1983 when I moved to California with Grandparents. When I came back in 1984, Freeline reunited for a little while, before the drummer and myself wanted to go 'heavier'.
Thus was born Leviathan. Formed in Linton small town IN, Leviathan palyed al lthe area bars, moved to Vincennes, changed a couple members, changed moniker to Bad Manners in Jan 1986. Started to hit stride aplying
gigs all over Southern In/Il. Won a battle of bands in Terre Haute, utilized funds to buy bus, and headed south to Atlanta. From 1986 through 1990 BM played over 32 states, in little holesi nthe wall to legendary rock joints.
Along the way, a few member changes, and a couple changes in name--Badd Manners, then Badd Madame. We were gonna get sued by the english band Bad Manners...!! In 1990 we had run our course, and split fairly amicably.
That summer (1990), Atomic Farmboyz was formed (again in Linton, IN) specializing in current rock, and killer classics...AF became a major draw during their 11 year run. In january 2001, A F decided to call it a day--NOT because crowds were diminshed,
but because it was time! After a few months of hibernation, BD resurfaced as part of acoustic duo Mumbo Jumbo...which enabled BD Unplugged to debut in the summer of 2001. BD Unplugged says to expect the unexpected in terms of
acoustic music. With over 650 tunes to choose from, there are certainly some surprises. In the summer of 2002, BD joined up with another Vincennes rock band (Zero Kings), enabling BD to get the best of both worlds~! |
