Artist History
Blues To Soul Music for Life. This is the biography of Bobby Warren. He was born June 3, 1947 in a town called Corinth in the state of Mississippi. Bobby picked up his first guitar when he was six years old. His musical career started in church singing gospel music with his family, billed as "The Warren Singers". Everyone in the family was musical, between Bobby's eight brothers and sisters. His mother was the leader of the pack and she sang the bass parts in the group. When Bobby was eight years old, he appeared on an RCA recording by the Zion Trumpeters playing guitar and singing. Still as a young boy his family moved from Mississippi to the state of Ohio. In Dayton Bobby played back up guitar with "Big Joe Bush" & The House Rockers. The family band broke up when Bobby was eleven years old and he kept on singing and playing music. His family nicknamed him "The Wonderer" as he started playing music with a lot's of other people. In 1970 Bobby moved to Los Angeles and landed his first job at the Hideaway Inn on Avalon Boulevard. With "Ironing Board Sam". Some of Bobby Warrens early influances were Frank Sinatra, Roy Clark, B.B.King, Glen Campbell, Sam Cooke, Bobby Womack, Curtis Mayfield and Muddy Waters just to name a few. Later in years Bobby grew up to be a tall, fit young man with a very charismatic smile, he became a complete Entertainer and comedian. Bobby's projection in lyrics and vocal delivery has put him on stage with the likes of Lowell Fulson, Little Walter, Smokey Wilson, Percy Mayfield, "Big Mama Thorton", Frankie Lee, PeeWee Craton, Big Joe Turner and other various artists. Warren joined the Younghearts, a group on 20th Century Records, when he was 24 and traveled to Fiji, Japan, Samoa, New Zealand, Africa and Canada. The Younghearts earnd spots opening for such artist as Jerry Lee Lewis, James Brown, Barry White, Aretha Franklin, Sam and Dave and the Temptations. He toured Australia with BoDiddley in the earlly 1970's and enjoyed it so much he decided to plant some roots there. While in Australia, he performed off and on for seven yesars. The musical group he put together was called Powerhouse Incorporated. Bobby has traveled and entertained people around the world, and has been credited with taking the first black soul group to Australia in 1964. The star-studded career of "Bobby Warren" is a topic he does not often discuss. Although he has supported or appeared with the Ohio Players, Barry White, The Average White Band, Bo Diddley, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Temptations, The Stylistics, The Miracles, Bobby Darren, The Younghearts, and Bobby Ridel. Bobby Warren prefers to disregard his past efforts and allow you to experience him as he is to day with his new family "The Dangerous Band". This power house of a group was foundeed in 1993. TESTAMONIALS, "Bobby Warren and The Dangerous Band 'Make Me Yours' One of the most uplifting artists I've heard for a long time. Can't wait until they tour Australia". James Glendenning Blues Presenter and Producer Air FM 100.7 Sydney Australia. / Dear Bobby and Wil, It was a real pleasure for both Valerie and I to meet you in Honolulu (we continued on to Guam). Many thanks also for the very nice CD that you gave us. We have listened to it often and enjoyed it thoroughly. We have given the CD to a local radio host in the hope that your music will receive more exposure (and perhaps an invitation to visit Guam in the near future). If you hear something positive from our little island, please let us know. We look forward to seeing you on Guam With best regards, Valerie and Naushad. / "Warren's blues good medicine", "Warren led his band through a monstrous opening performance at the Fabulous Thunderbirds show in August, upstaging even T-Birds singer Kim Wilson for colorful between song patter, Warren a 46 year old Mississippi native, does wonders with a Stratocaster as well. This shot of the blues is highly recomended"! J.G.Wirt The Bakersfield Californian. / "Bobby Warren and The Dangerous Band Is a group whose music displays the basic principles of Rhythm and Blues. The band members put their heart and soul into their performance displaying their true artistic ability. They also possess the ability to capture the hearts and souls of their audience. Bobby Warren an The Dangerous Band has performed several times at the California State University, Bakersfield campus, with each performance receiving "rave" reviews from not only our students but our faculty and staff as well". Sincerely Diana Cozzi May, Director, Student Activities. / I'm glad that Bobby Warren and the Dangerous Band made it back to City College of San Francisco. The City Cafe turned out to be a good-sized venue, providing a constant flow of people coming through. It was a bonus treat to top off their lattes and lunch. There were many blues fans that sat through a whole set to enjoy your lively and soulful sound. The Dangerous Band was the last group to perform on the concert/lecture series. Thank you for making it a rousing finish to our spring season".
