Artist History
I started playing guitar when I was twelve. My Grandfather taught me some old country songs that got me started. I've never had a music lesson in my life. I joined my first band when I was fourteen, playing bass. The Reflections, we mostly played weddings. It was a great starting point for me. It gave me the chance to meet the piano player and the drummer who are featured on this album. After that, some of my life long buddies and I started our own band in high school. Southern Stallions, that was fun. We didn't make any money, but we played a bunch of rock and had a heck of a time. Then I started playing in a band in Houston called Sante Fe. We won a radio contest (93Q Country), but that didn't too much for us. That was a great experience as far as music goes. All of the guys in that band were awesome. Then I joined a dance hall band from Victoria, TX called Rhythm of the Road. If you are from this area, then you know who Rhythm is. While playing all these different types of music, I wondered what it was that I would do as my biggest goal in music. Well, one night while I was throwing papers, I found this radio station (98.7) that features Texas Music. It was a local station that played nothing but Texas artist. It just so happens that my antenna was broke and this was the only radio station that would come in clear during the whole route. So I started listening. I knew of a few artists such as Robert Keen, Jerry Jeff, and Gary P. Nunn, but I never thought that there were so many others. I quickly fell in love with this genre of music. It seemed to be the light I had been looking for. The music was real country music, not some pop song that Nashville adds a fiddle track to just to call it country. From then on I knew what direction my music career was headed. So I put together this album. |
