Artist History
Well it all started on a boat. Wait - it really all started at Disney studios; yeah that's right, the place that makes the cartoons. Jeff and Jason were old friends from high school and were working there, Jun wasn't an old friend from high school but was also working there. Placed together on a Christmas project starring the old rank and file Micky Mouse, Donald, and Goofy, they were thus forced to eventually confront each other's musicality. This happened only a little while after Jeff and Jason tempted Jun into a life of playing Magic the Gathering. Fortunately, the temptation didn't last too long, or she'd be out of money. Anyway, back to the boat - the Moon, wherein lives Jason. Exsisting by choice in such confined living quarters, musical entertainment was necessarily reduced to the portable and small. So there was a uke there. And a tiny 4 track. And liquor. A combination which resulted in the early version of "Just a Boy", as well as the now long-abandoned "Banana Banana" whose haunting lyrics, consisting of "banana, banana, who's got the banana, apple, apple, who's got the pear", still linger in the harbor. Upon repeat playing of the Moon recordings in the sobering light of day, the surprising revelation was: "Not bad!" It was decided that if the raw material could be polished, a sincere musical effort could be the result. In a world commonly bereft of ukulele-driven songs, a band of this nature could be a refreshing twist. And thus was Waste of Aces born - a name that luckily beat out "Toxic Lobster". As odd as the origins of Waste of Aces may appear, it is by no means a band founded on lack of experience. Jeff's father was a professional musician for many years, and Jeff has been playing guitar and writing songs since youth. Jun has been playing keyboards since childhood, and has seven years experience on the bass, including stints in other bands which have gigged around LA. Jason has previously played bass and fiddle before settling on the ukulele. |

"Worth the Wait"
Rating: 5 (out of 5)
'Worth the Wait' is a perfectly quirky pop gem. Driven by a ukulele and featuring by far the best recorder solo of the year, the simple melody and humorous lyrics bring to mind such gifted artists as Jonathan Richman and Weird Al Yankovic. Kneel down people, we're in the presence of greatness.
