    Artist History
In just five short years, THE PUSH STARS have risen to the top of the competitive Boston music scene while collecting an impressive list of national accolades along the way. In a town with over 2,000 rock bands, the Push Stars won the coveted “Debut Album of the Year-Major Label” title at this year’s Boston Music Awards; competing against such notable acts as Vertical Horizon, Staind and The Folk Implosion, Jordan Knight and Joey McIntyre. In 1999, the band was awarded the prestigious “Rising Star” title, following up 1998’s “Outstanding Rock Band” and “Outstanding Song/Songwriter” titles. The band’s debut CD, Meet Me at the Fair, on Imago Records (1996), won the “Outstanding Debut CD,” and Boston Magazine honored The Push Stars by naming them the “Best Rock Upstart” in their annual “Best of Boston” awards. Interest in THE PUSH STARS’ music is skyrocketing. The Farrelly Brothers (“Dumb and Dumber”) included The Push Stars’ song “Everything Shines” in the movie and soundtrack to “There’s Something About Mary”. They have also chosen the band to perform a version of Steely Dan’s “Bad Sneakers” for their next blockbuster movie titled “Me, Myself & Irene”. The movie will star Jim Carrey and Renee Zellweger and will hit theatres on June 23rd. The Elektra Records soundtrack for “Me, Myself & Irene” features The Push Stars with Smash Mouth, The Offspring, the Foo Fighters, Third Eye Blind, Wilco, Ben Folds Five and others. The national buzz on the band is growing stronger as their music is played on some of the top shows on television such as NBC’s “ER,” ABC’s “All My Children” and “Wasteland,” Fox’s “Malcolm In The Middle” and the WB Network’s “Roswell” and “Popular”. Further national exposure came as the result of The Push Stars’ “Everything Shines” being chosen as the weekly theme song to the WB’s “Brutally Normal” and the performance of two songs on the nationally broadcast Jenny Jones show. In 1997, serious national attention started when THE PUSH STARS were named the “Best Unsigned Band in America” in an EMI Music Publishing/Radio & Records magazine competition. The band then self-released the 7-song EP Tonight, which further displayed the talent and passion that undeniably sets songwriter Chris Trapper apart in the company of most pop songwriters. A quick listen to the music will let you know why the music critics, thousands of fans, and in particular, The Birmingham (AL) Weekly says, “The sky is filled with yearning young pop bands, and THE PUSH STARS are the next big thing in it.” This resulted in a major label bidding war for the band. From the 16 interested labels, The Push Stars signed a recording contract with Capitol Records and a publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing, forming a solid team to support the band. After the Party, the band’s debut Capitol Records project produced by Jack Joseph Puig (Tonic, Counting Crows, The Goo Goo Dolls) and Gavin MacKillop (Toad the Wet Sprocket), was released in May 1999 and called “one of the most anticipated major label debuts of 1999” (CMJ). Chris Trapper’s singing and guitar work are complemented by the extraordinary drumming of Ryan MacMillan and the creative keyboards and bass playing of Dan McLoughlin, a recording engineer of some renown having worked with acts such as the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Dinosaur Jr., and Buffalo Tom. The trio’s musical talents, combined with a hard-working, do-it-yourself attitude and an aggressive non-stop touring schedule (performing with bands such as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Better Than Ezra, Julian Lennon, Candlebox, Third Eye Blind, Guster, The Samples and Train), are waking America up to their music. Thousands all over the country are claiming The Push Stars as their own personal discovery and the party is just starting!

    Press Reviews
·“The Push Stars trio perform acoustically rich, smartly arranged songs that are as memorable as those of John Wesley Harding, Buffalo Tom or the Lemonheads—songs which are soul-bearingtales presented with an ever-present sense of compassion, innocence and warmth. It’s a rare and splendid thing when a band can mix such simple ingredients and themes and make them so absorbing and sublime. This is a must-hear.” ~ CMJ - College Music Journal
