Artist History
From the far north of Scotland, shakeyboy grew up surrounded by musical influences from both parents, encouraged to play piano and saxophone at a young age. When the rave scene of the late 80s, early 90s really kicked off he got into the dance scene and eventually, with a few mates, started DJing and promoting small nights playing mainly hardcore and house. This sparked his interest in creating music. His first sequencer, a Yamaha QY20, provided the means. Moving to Glasgow to study in 1994 exposed him to the underground techno and techhouse scene there which has become a huge influence on his music. Student loans provided a reasonable little home studio setup. Nowadays his music tastes range from jazz funk like the old Acid Jazz stuff to hard minimalist techno like Jeff Mills and everything in between. |
