Artist History
Gracing spotlights of famous venues in England and South Africa, Samantha began her professional career at the tender age of seven. In fact, she cut her first single and booked her first tour literally while cutting her second teeth. Fondly nicknamed "Little Miss Dynamite" by the press, this pint size chantuse with the big voice immigrated to America and was promptly signed by ICM. Auditioning with hundreds Samantha soon landed the lead role as the mischevious red-head in a very succesful production of "Annie" which led to an audition in New York and being offered the lead in the Broadway production set to open in London later that year. To Samantha's disapointment it was not meant to be as she was outgrowing the other orpahans and even catching up to the Daddy Warbucks with rehearsals not far on the horizon. The ups and downs of a Show Business life already under her belt She managed instead to turn her attention to the state fair circuit, sharing the stage with such artists as Dolly Parton, Kenny Rodgers and performing for record number crowds. Clearly and ambitious little girl with a professional vision beyond her years. Now all grown up, Samantha continues to experience a deepening of her artistry. She challenged herself to learn to play the guitar which has ultimately become a vehicle for her powerful songwriting. This young artist began to draw critical acclaim when ASCAP chose Samantha from over 400 applicants to participate in the 3rd Annual Lester Sill Advanced Songwriting Workshop. This invaluable opportunity afforded her much insight from such record industry heavyweights as Jackson Browne, Michelle Shocked, and Matthew Wilder. Samantha was also chosen as a finalist in the Lilith Fair Talent Search Competition in Los Angeles, sponsored by Star 98.7 and Universal Concerts. Only twenty female artists were chosen out of an astounding 9000 submissions from all over the country. Her live performances soon caught the attention of Producer/Engineer Mark Cross (Shelby Lynne, Bill Bottrell, Randy Newman) and Producer/Songwriter Mike Reagan (Sony Records, Oliver Stone, Scorpio Sound, Warner Bros.) A wonderful collaborative venture was to unfold to showcase this extraordinary talented and exciting new artist. The first track produced by this team "How Do You Fall" Hand picked for the independent film "June" "Fat Kid Films" set for release Late Spring 2004. And now in 2003 she has formed a brand new aliance with Super talented Canadian Producer/songwriter/guitar player Mike K (Elton John, Nelly Furtado, Dido, Destiny's Child, Uncle Kracker etc...) In the eyes of many, a truly exciting momentum of an artist to be reckoned with is building...That sublime voice, undeniably marketable image, great songwriting, and simply put a "Star Quality" that you just can't quite put your finger on. All a force that is soon to take on the music industry with fevered pitch. Samantha has all she needs for a long and very successful career. In her own words, "Do what you love."

Press Reviews
"Singing with God given authority, she baskes in her element, navigating an intensly beautiful soundscape with Superstar familiarity that is nothing less than breathtaking!"(Brian, Los Angeles)
"The girl can't help it. I watched as even the women and grandmothers were strangely seduced by her. I think I'ts a combination of powerful sexuality, a real vunerability and a facination with someone that is able to do something that not everyone can do." (Arlene, Los Angeles)
" In a pink fur hat and her gucci boots, this girl just screams ROCK STAR. The cool thing is her music stands on It's own. In an age of marketability and Video-friendly artists this girl is all that and a big bag of chips!" (Richard, Los Angeles)
"Los Angeles can definitly be a tired little town when it comes to another female singer/songwriter, but every once in a while you're glad you stayed to catch the set. I found an unlikely me pushing through the crowd to sign her mailing list and hand in my little FEED BACK card which I have since enthusiastically embelished, after a few more shows and official title of (Fan of The Band)." (Rob, Los Angeles) |
