Artist History
In 1995 Jimmy headed for the live music capitol of the world - Austin,TX and began working for a computer manufacturer where he first ran into Micah. Jimmy and Micah worked together for about a year and a half, passed each other in halls, never exchanging so much as a what's up. In early 1997 an exchange of ideas began between the two, and Jimmy went to one of Micah's famous parties. Jimmy walked through the door and said what's up to Micah who was sitting in the living room. He went to put his beer in the fridge and saw Micah, standing in the garage. It was at this point Jimmy realized he'd made a grievous error and mistaken Micah for his twin brother Nathan. No hard feelings were harbored though, and the trio of Micah, Nathan, and Jimmy formed. Jimmy didn't have any real experience playing with other musicians, and Micah & Nathan were only a year or two into learning their respective instruments (Bass & Drums), and they all had similiar musical influences, so the fit was just right. After about a year of Micah, Nathan, and Jimmy writing music with no vocals, it was time to set a voice to the music. Now enters Scott. Scott was working with Micah and Jimmy, knew Micah & Nathan from years of 6th street partying, and hung out at the same bars as Jimmy, Micah, and Nathan. The three of them mentioned to Scott they were looking for a singer, and on July 4th 1998, after what could be considered an audition for Scott, the band was finalized. The four of them began working on tightening up the music, and after playing a couple house parties, Wax Dart hit the stage for the first time on March 1st, 1999 at Steamboat 1874 on 6th Street in Austin, TX. Jimmy was concerned that no one would show up for a show on a Monday night, but that concern quickly changed to fear as the crowd grew to over 150 people. Everything went off without a hitch and their stage career had begun. After about six months of playing bars on 6th Street, internal strife threatened to tear the band apart. But after what seemed like an extremely long hiatus, the internal strife was set aside and the music of Wax Dart began to flow again. |
