Artist History
Sir Hedgehog was formed in the autumn of 1995 AD by Jonas Fairley (vocals), Paul Slater (guitar), Simon Oliver (bass) and Steve Oliver (drums). Although all had played gigs together in their previous bands, their mutual love for classic 70s metal brought them together, and thus, Sir Hedgehog was birthed. A debut demo, "The Legend of Sir Hedgehog", was released in 1997 and received rave reviews in Terrorizer, Kerrang and Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles as well as various fanzines. Response from underground metal fans from around the world was also extremely favourable, and in late 1998, a limited edition CD containing "The Legend of ..." plus two other sessions. In mid-1999, Simon left the band to pursue other interests. Brendy Marklinger, an old bandmate of Jonas', soon came aboard to take over bass duties. The year 2000 brings Sir Hedgehog's official debut album, "Volume 1", containing the band's strongest material to date. Heavy, yet catchy and melodic, Sir Hedgehog's sound gives a nod to the best heavy rock of the past three decades, yet easily fits into the burgeoning underground heavy music scene of today. |
