Artist History
Kerstin Hanson and Shannon Campbell have been "folking you harder" as an acoustic duo since mid - 2000. Guitar, keyboard and the blending of their voices keep bringing audiences back for more in the Sandhills area of North Carolina. Folk You Harder's style comes from a blending of influences, including folk rock, pop rock, and a splash of modern rock. They have been compared to the Indigo Girls, Tori Amos, Ani Difranco and Sarah McLaughlin. Folk You Harder keeps crowds happy with a mix of their much-requested original music and favorite covers. The recent addition of David Stopher on congas and various percussive "toys" has rounded out the group's sound and added yet another element to their engaging stage presence. Although Kerstin and Shannon take pride in the fact that they're able to incite psuedo-clogging competitions, make a mean cherry jello, and hold their own against any heckler, of more interest may be their acceptance as performing members of Indiegrrl and that they took home the title of "Winner of the 2001 Cape Fear Folk Festival Songwriting Competition" in Wilmington, North Carolina. |

Press Reviews
'Their songs are of an eclectic nature and somehow seem to pull every sobbing string in the cerebral cortex.' -Josh Carnes, Up & Coming Magazine 'Like being ringside at the birth of the Indigo Girls' subtler daughters.' - Ric Kelley, Internet Review 'This album is a work of art from two amazing women. Each song is a lyrical and musical masterpiece in itself, their harmonies bring tears to my eyes, and their individual talents exceed comprehension.' - CD Baby Fan Review 'The sound quality is perfect and crispy. Enough to really hear what the girls are saying and you can really capture the mood and passion of the songs.'- Suzette, Indiegrrl Performing Member |
