Artist History
Pet Rocks was formed in 1996 by Pedro Arroyo and David Love in Ithaca, New York. They played their first gigs in early 1997. That fall, they started recording their first CD at Pyramid sound. The CD was produced by Alex Peralais, who that same fall produced the Bad Religion album No Substance. The CD was finished in early 1998 and released that April. Alex Gottschalk and Steve Reichlen joined just before the recording started. Pet Rocks continued to play around upstate New York until Summer 1999, when several band members left New York to pursue careers in various other locations. In Fall 0f 2000, their song Cheshire Sun took second place in the Rock/Blues catagory of the Austin Songwriters group annual songwriting contest. |
