Press Reviews
What has been said about...Organic Mechanic1.) ?The begining band played, pretty damn good but nothing amazing. With a name like Organic Mechanic what can you expect?? - Random Weezer fan2.)?No one had a clue as to who was opening until the polite man who asked us not to shove told us that Organic Mechanic from Portland would be playing. The band (one drummer, one guitarist/singer, one bass player, one tenor sax player) came out and told us they?d take a half hour of our time. It was clear to everyone involved that we were all there for Weezer?but the audience gave their hometown band a nice welcome. We found out the next night that the show was their sixth gig?now I?m even more impressed. Their sound, funky?but not slap bass funky?and jazzy got me in the mood for Weezer, but I only speak for myself. I thought the audience was pretty responsive. The drummer looked like my major adviser at Whitman and sweated his way through his shirt while he pounded his Allegra (isn?t that allergy medicine?) kit. The bass player reminded Matt and me of our first semester RA, and played a black 4 string Warwick like a pro. The guitarist/singer played a Danelectro 59 DC (?) and looked like my first year Resident Director (I don?t know why these guys all reminded me of Whitties? I?m probably starting to get a little homesick). The sax player wailed and might be a friend of a friend of a friend. Might be.? - Jamin (student at Whitman U.)3.)?Tonight's show at the Aladdin Theater in Portland was very cool. That?s a really swell place to do a show. And once again the crowd went ballistic! Also, our good buddy Patrick Finn's band, Organic Mechanic, opened up, sounded great, and got a really warm well-deserved response from the crowd. They will also be opening up for today/tomorrow(?)'s show , up in Seattle.? - Karl4.)?Organic Mechanic opened again and did an excellent job.? - KarlOrganic Mechanic began in the dawn of the year 2000. The combined efforts of Patrick Finn(guitar, vocals), Joe Cunningham(sax, vocals), Norm Buccola(bass, vocals), and Talbott Guthrie(drums), has resulted in the infectious and unique sound that is Organic Mechanic. All four members of this rock group have previously displayed their talents in many other relatively successful bands. But their love for rock music, and solid song structures, has led them to this latest effort. Their debut, self-titled CD, for release in January, is a collection of songs ranging from ultra-fast pop to slow grinding grooves. They are currently searching for opportunities to demonstrate their live show. If you are interested please call Norm (503-805-0705) or Talbott (503-493-6118) |
