Artist description
Nine Millimeter couldn't be described by a specificgenre...some say it's punk, some say it's ska. Theband doesn't prefer to label it at all. Phil DeTolve plays guitar and is lead vocalist, whilehis brother Pete holds down the bottom on the bass,as well as back up vocals. Self taught Rob Costie is on drums, but also actually switches with Philfor two songs as a lead singer. Last, but not least,Jason D'Mello powers the band on lead guitar, and is one of the primary writers of the music. |

Artist History
Formed in November of 1997 with a drumset in Rob's bedroom, an acoustic guitar, and an electic keyboardthat was used for bass...The band was a three piece then, but Jason, who was living in New Zealand at the time, came back to Michigan and joined the band early in 1998. At the time, the band played mostly covers, but soon began to delve into original songwriting...More gigs have followed since, with opening acts for band such as Mustard Plug, and Kalamazoo's very own Madbutchers. The band's first experience with studio recording was in July of 1999 where they recorded "Fully Loaded," an eleven song demo thattook only about 6 hours to record...nevertheless, it is not the band's best effort to display talent. In 2000, they went back to work in the studio, onlythis time, putting more effort into their work, and produced their latest, "Babies for a dollar."At the time |
