    Artist History
Martín Alfie was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 23, 1972. He was brought up in a middle class family context. His education was never oriented mainly to musical studies but to global and non specific topics ones. His interest in music would come out to light many years later, finishing his adolescence. In the meantime, being 9 years old till 12 years old, he studied the classical guitar (spanish guitar), learning folk music, as well as some many other pieces to be incorporated to his repertoir. Nothing much there´s to say about public perfomances except for a school one in which he played a spanish score, a beautiful one.It wasn´t much later till Martin gave up the guitar for it was no longer of his interest. Some years went by and the piano picked up on him. By that time he was fifteen. But it wasn´t until he was almost eighteen years old until the decision was finally made by him: the piano was a major need. He first tried learning the classic scores (Mozart, Bach, etc.).Three months were enough to see he didn´t fit into that kind of music. Martin knew there was much an interesting world in the sounds universe. So, by April, 1991 he decided to learn about Harmony, Composition and Arrangements taking private lessons for he didn´t want to go to any school of music. The time marched on and our young man composed many pieces. Two years later, his piano professor, Pablo Hablanedo, flied up to Boston, Massachussets to Bercklee College of Music in order to pick up a major specialization in Jazz Music. Martin went on his final formal Harmony Studies with Pollo Raffo, graduated from Bercklee College of Music. So, 1993 run by and Harmony, Composition and Arrangements Studies were covered.Almost by August, 1993, at a perfomance at the Café Tortoni, Martin listened to the Fenix Jazz Band (Phoenix Jazz Band) and discovered Manuel Fraga at the piano, watching blazes come out of his fingers and marvelous sounds of the piano. Not a peep was necessary to know that Manuel Fraga would become Martin´s Piano Maestro for the next 5 years, which were hard, very tough years. Our young musician was to spend 8 hours, sometimes 10 hours a day to study the piano, besides his carrer in Economic Sciences. But Martin was determined to devote himself to music professionally. He had the age to open himself the road in life more than to study. But, the decision was made, and along with some other problems in his life, he went on studying thoroughly, with major patience and aced every difficulty in his way.On September 24th, 1998 Martin had his right wrist operated in order to take some encapsulated liquid, which caused him not to be able to move his hand properly. The surgery was a success and Martin went on playing after he recovered. But not everything was studying. In the way, our young composer wrote music for TV, Radio and movies, gaining the respect and recognition for that.1999 is the time when Martin begins to record continuosly several albums. Behind The Tracks is the second one, after having recorded 1996 (in that year and re-mastered on 1999). By the end of February, 1999.Martin begins to produce and conduct along with his former lady an entertainment radio program called “Top Secret” on FM 89.3 Mhz Radio Station, which had a chief rating, and winning him on June an award for best Movie Scorer & Jingle Composer for the “Top Secret” track, which was broadcasted in the overture of the program. Later, on December he gave 2 live concerts, one on December 4th and the other one on 11th, a week later. By the end of December, he was awarded again, recieving the Galena Prize, for best radio entertainment program. The live concerts were recorded and that gave birth to Music Is Alive and Music is Alive II. On those albums, you can listen to the tracks perfomed by Martin and the conduction and radio telephone calls greeting him as well.By the beginning of February 2000, Farenheit Titanium was completely recorded. A double CD set. On March of that year he gave a concert, playing jazz standards as well as his own compositions.By April 2000 Martin quits in someway his radio program, due to several reasons, in order to devote himself to the recordings, giving birth to Movie-ing On, Rebirth and Behind the Tracks II.Now, many albums are being broadcasted as well as piano concerts are being given. Martin Alfie is a non stop composer and records an average of 5 albums a year.
