Artist History
Christy began her singing career in New York in the late 60's and early 70's. Opting for college in the west, she married in 1975 and put her career on hold to raise four children. In 1985, she moved to Colorado and joined a community choir just to be able to "sing something somewhere." It was at this time that she began to study voice and found that she had the voice for opera. "I studied voice for six years and turned my attention away from folk music so that I could really focus on the classics. I even gave my guitar away!" In 1995 Christy decided that she missed the beautiful simplicity of folk music, so with a rented guitar in hand she headed for the coffee houses. She began writing songs and has recorded several of them on her new CD Goodbye - The Arrival. "I began writing songs after my children were nearly grown. I had no idea that I would enjoy expressing my feeling through my own songs. I have always loved singing but felt that songwriting should be left to others. I am constantly surprising myself and my message to the world is 'never stop exploring the possibilities." Christy is a motivational speaker who incorporates her own story of later life success in her presentations. She refers to herself as "the poster child of middle age accomplishment." |
