Artist description The Brighton sound is based on a combination of melodic vocals and songs that display both musical and lyrical freshness. The result is contemporary pop-rock that has drawn comparisons to the likes of U2 and Radiohead. Lead singer Nathan Wilson has a strong and convincing voice that is occasionally reminiscent of Bono and the late Jeff Buckley. It is perfectly framed by the guitar and keyboard stylings of Daryl Deskin, an innovative musician influenced by such players as The Edge and Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore. Rounding out the band is the rock-solid yet subtle rhythm section of bassist Nick Kay and drummer Marc Chartrain. Audiences in Montreal and Toronto have already responded very positively to Brighton, for they are a highly compelling group in performance. Their songs have already received airplay on Montreal's CHOM 97.7 FM, Toronto's THE EDGE 102.1 FM and Vermont's THE BUZZ 99.9, while music critics have also been seduced by the group's charm. "Gorgeous! like vintage collectibles. The band members have a whiff of crusader about them," wrote Mark Lepage of The Montreal Gazette. While CHOM FM D.J. "Tootall" praised, "They're going to conquer this country!" Nathan's interview with The Jeff Buckley International Newsletter has sparked interest in places as far a field as Europe and Australia. Brighton have made available a Three and Seven-track EP demo, Polar Bear Sessions. Despite the title, there is nothing cold about these passionate and powerful songs. "BREATHE," for instance, is dramatically anthemic, while "ANGELS AND ALL MY FRIENDS" is an atmospheric and moody ballad that builds to an epic climax. Clearly this is a band to watch. Their future is bright on all fronts.
