Artist History
ABSENCE OF FAITH was created in the year 2000 by song writer WILLIAM J. BUTLER. Formerly, William was the creator of the solo project Ominous Erotica. The electronic, dance oriented Goth music, which began in 1994 and ended in 2000, resulted in 3 Cd releases. As a result of new material being far different than the Ominous Erotica sound, the name is dropped and a fresh new sound is unleashed. 10 tracks are recorded, mixed and a NEW BEGINNING spawned. Thus, the birth of ABSENCE OF FAITH. ABSENCE OF FAITH can best be described as "a mishmash of modern electronic music." "dark, edgy, energy filled." "TECHGOTHSTRIAL." All songs were written, performed, and recorded by William, but a new element has been added. A live band. JERRY BARKSDALE of bands Assisting Sorrow, Coronach, and Emperian Asunder, has come together to lay down live bass grooves. BRAD GAY, long time friend, has offered his services of precise, rhythms, and beats. WILLIAM BUTLER plays guitar, keyboard, sings, and is responsible for electronics. This combination, along with sink lighting, and already upbeat music, ensures an intense, energy filled live show. Year 2000. THE NEW BEGINNING is the first release of Absence of Faith. It has a dance element along with dark undertones, edgy guitar, and effect driven vocals. Each song in its own right, is completely different from one another, yet strikingly similar in feel, thus creating a general mood and consistent flow from beginning to end. Borrowed are elements of techno, gothic, industrial, jungle, trip hop, alternative rock, metal guitar grooves, and any other sound effect or modern influence that may have inspired a part in the project. This opens the possibility of something for everyone within this Cd. |
