Artist History
Collective of artists from various points in New England and the Mid-south. Convereged on smalltown Indiana with toy instruments, Fall records, and fistfuls of pills. Influenced primarily bythe Monkees and their own mental illness, the Witcheshave been cranking out e.p. after e.p. since early 1997, mostly as a catharsis for the eccentric KIng Elder, who, as frontman for The Tipe in the mid-90's, caught people's attention by walking the streetsof Richmond in a cloak and paper crown. Sylvia Reading is a noted childrens' shock author, whose "Clit Slitter: A Collection of Poetry for Young Children" will go to press late next year. Sylvia is also noted for her ultra-rare, King Elder-produced "Hooks of Holland" l.p. Megan Ashby works with Sylvia in Writer/Wive and is a painter, sculptor and clarinetist. Megan is currently writing charts for her own album of complicated, miniature arrangements for strings, winds and percussion. |
