Artist History
Growing up in Portland, Tim was always a singer at heart. When he was a child, Tim would spend endless hours in front of the radio listening to the most influential crooners of the time; Eddy Arnold, Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, and Frank Sinatra, not just because he had great taste in music, but because he was trying to figure out what it was that made them so great. (By hearing him sing today, he apparently figured it out.) Tim's influences span many genres, from Motown sound to James Taylor.Tim has been a serious songwriter now for many years. He is not a full time musician, however, and has always held down a full-time job in addition to writing and performing. For 10 years, Tim drove truck and, as a result, lost two disks in his lower back. Afterwards, Tim became a company representative driving between three states. Not long after, he had an auto accident that he says changed his outlook. "That's when I decided that I'd better do what I want to do before it's too late."Tim had been singing in church for years and felt he was ready to sing professionally. Through a friend, he was able to get an audition at The Roadhouse Grill. Tim was hired on the spot! He proceeded to do shows for them 4 nights a week over the next 3 years. They felt so strongly about his talent that they flew him out to San Diego to perform at the grand opening of their new restaurant.Working with several Portland musicians and producers, Tim released his first CD, "Country Ain't Where You're From", on the ARIA label founded by J&M Publishing, First Take Studios, and Jim Gimlett. The album was a hit in Europe. The single "Me, The Moon & The Radio" spent 2 weeks in the number-one slot on the World Country Music Network charts. He later won a European Country Music Award for Song Of The Year. After the initial success of "Country Ain't Where You're From", Tim began making multiple trips to Nashville to make contacts and work at developing a career in Music City USA. In 1999 Tim picked up and moved there. He is currently writing with a select group of musicians and has been in the studio working on a new album. He is also a regular at The Boardwalk Cafe and the famous Broken Spoke where he was a featured writer in early November of 2000.Tim Schneider writes with depth and emotion and sings with enough to soul to make many a singer envious. His music is extremely addicting and should stand as a true testament to the country music and the songwriter's ability to write your life. |
