Artist History
Born out of Swansea College in the Mid-Seventies as Rhode Island Red. then a five piece, went on to become Ohibo Paronti as a four piece in the late 70's early 80's.This was Welsh Rock when it really wasn't fashionable. The Band made numerous Radio Sessions for Radio Wales, had airplay on Radio 1. the old Mike Read show.Indeed had their praises sung by Midge Ure on the same show. They appeared on BBC TV, as well as over 300 performances around the UK. Look, the bottom line is this, there is still some studio tracks left of the Band and together with some live recordings, which are worth listening to for their energy and fun, so why not. This is a chance to hear what the World missed. TEE HEE...like that anyway, lets have fun and enjoy the ride. O.P.Everyone knows that to 'make it BIG' you need to get 'the break' and be given 'THE BIG PUSH'Unfortunately 'THE BIG PUSH' has always been heavily influenced by the 'corporate management theory' which amounts to if it doesn't sound like what we've already pushed into the charts that it is not worthy of a listen. There are some rare exceptions, but, this state of affairs has meant many talented bands never received 'THE BIG PUSH' indeed to use a quote, OHIBO PARONTI were lucky to even receive 'THE WISENED LITTLE SHOVE IN THE ARSE WITH A BLUNT INSTRUMENT' which can have the dual affect of not only looking like it is the start of 'THE BIG PUSH' but can with the minimal of effort be turned into the 'shafting' 'rogering' 'buggering' what would otherwise be a reasonable band.Still, you've got to laugh haven't you.Remember....EMI A&R ....quote 'Hey I've got a band of my own (A&R arshole) why would we want to listen to a band all the way from Wales, we've got all we need in London.'So to those people who could only have had the jobs because they are capable of the most humungous puckering up and delicate placing of lips on the last part of Corporate Boss' anatomy to leave the room, OHIBO PARONTI don't given a flying **** anymore. It don't matter no more.Such is life. But a message to all Bands...D.L.T.B.G.Y.D.Keep shoving your music in their face any way you can. Use any media you can like MP3.COM, because unless they all begin to wake up, they will be out of a job. It will be the public who will decide what they like, which is as it should be, not the kids being fed what they are told they will like. Am I right?Anyway in their face means they have less time to shove it at someone's butt. What we will bring you is around 10 to 20 original songs from OHIBO which were enjoyed throughout the Country...and after all this time, why put the songs out there again...well..WHY NOT.Rock on and have funAllan....OHIBO PARONTI. |
