Press Reviews
"Gritty Garage Rock riffs and mammoth Sabbath-esque licks combine with straight on Punk Rock velocity to bring you seven tracks of no frills gutter swilling Rock by Crash and Burn. Midtempo pummeling, wailing dirges and vomit spewed vocals create a similar riotous sound that truly tears it up. From the blaring, intense battering of the opening "Kill a Punk for Rock and Roll", to the '70's Metal infused "Swear to God", the screeching chaotic fretboard shredding that is "Catholic High School Girls in Trouble", to the speedy straight ahead Punk Rock pounding of "Crawlspace", this release doesn't let up an inch intensity wise from start to finish." Under the Volcano #58"Crazy CD. The first song rips out like something from ZEKE, and the second song reminds me of old AEROSMITH ("Rocks" era) on a SABBATH trip that flirts with stoner rock territory before kicking back in with some fast and heavy stuff (quite a tasty morsel, that one). These guys are blurring the line between "punk" and "rock" which is more than fine in my book. They've got a solid, heavy edge, and plenty of snot to go along with it. I've listened to it about 6 times now and can't quite pigeonhole 'em and that's just another feather in their cap. This is cool. Nuff said fucko." Motion Sickness #10"The title of the first track, "Kill a Punk for Rock and Roll" sums up the kick in the face you're about to receive as you press the play button on your cd player. Imagine Verbal Abuse and Zeke in a drunken brawl at a Motorhead Tribute show held in a blues club and you get an idea of what Crash and Burn sounds like. I feel the need to shower after listening to this." Paranoize #14"I was very excited to review this because Crash and Burn have very quickly become one of my favorite bands. High energy rock and roll fused with punk hailing from Boston, Mass. C + B playa unique style of punk that is deeply rooted in rock and roll and 80's metal. Listening to this comes to mind GUNS AND ROSES (Appetite for Destruction era), early Danzig, Black Sabbath and Reagan Youth. Interesting mix. A lot of bands have been trying to play this style, but most come off sounding like boring redneck bar bands. This band maintains the energy and style of punk while staying fresh and original. Plus the production is great, recorded by the legendary Don Fury. This is worth picking up." Slug and Lettuce #65"A spirited mix of punk and straight-ahead rock 'n roll for this new local band, fronted by Bill Brown (ex-Shoot The Hostages), "Kill A Punk For Rock 'n Roll" would be noteable on its title alone and they back it up with some furious boogie. "Crwalspace," "Crash and Burn" and "I Love Trash" also kick out the rock 'n roll nasties, as well. The slower "Catholic High School Girls in Trouble" would appeal to the Allston Rock City crowd, but don't let that scare 'ya off. An auspicious debut." Suburban Voice #44 |
