Artist description
Catchy, energetic, and a little left of center. These are just a few terms being used to describe the unique Philadelphia-based rock ‘n roll band known as Winston’s Dog. By combining infectious melodies with insightful lyrics, Winston’s Dog are creating music that matters and opening eyes whenever they perform their dynamic live set.
The band features impassioned lead vocalist Jon Robins, the melodic yet intricate stylings of guitarists Jason Murray and Bill Schwartz, rock-solid bassist Colin Devine, and the heavy-handed Mike Wexler on drums. Founded by Murray, Robins, and Schwartz in 1995, the group hit their stride in the past year with the release of their self-produced album which garnered much attention, including that of popular Philly radio station Y100. Winston’s Dog has been featured on three separate occasions at the Y100 Tuesday Night Music Club at the Grape Street Pub, a forum designed by the radio station to spotlight the best and most promising local talent. The overwhelming success of these shows led to an invitation from assistant program director Dan Fein to perform live on-air on Y100 accompanied by an interview segment.
With success squarely in their sites, Winston’s Dog has big plans for the future. In addition to performing live at any chance they get, the group is currently writing new material and working on a new album with producer David Ivory (The Roots, Erykah Badu, Silvertide) that they hope to release by the end of 2003.
