Artist description
Dear Sir or Madam:
Thank you for your interest in The Shame. The blood, sweat and saliva samples you requested are en route. We believe you will find their composition to be satisfactory, perhaps even a little surprising.
We receive inquiries like yours everyday and are only more than happy to respond. It may appear that The Shame suddenly sprang fully-formed upon an unsuspecting Chicago, not quite unlike Athena in war armor bursting from Zeus' skull. Well, that's just not the case. You will be pleased to learn that The Shame have a rich and illustrious pedigree.
Let's start with the senior member of "the band", Jeff Deff. Jeff was actually raised as a little girl by his evil mother and sister just outside Sarasota, Florida. Happily, Jeff took this "gender bender" in good fun and went on to graduate summa cum lauda from Wellesley College with a concentration in electronic music. After forging a career for himself in the lucrative, yet soulless, field of video game soundtracking (You can hear some of Jeff's early scores in many classic TurboGrafix 16 cartridges including "Atomic Punk VI" and "Sumo Showdown"), Jeff found solace in the (relatively) organic sounds of rock, punk rock, and rock pop music. Mr. Deff bestowed his distinctive mark on the rock outfits descendro Allegro, Songs: Ohia, Chicken Hatchet and ManIvar before blundering into his sweet deal playing guitar with The Shame.
The written word fails to communicate a single damn thing about the one known as Traci Trouble, but please forgive us as we try. Traci descended upon Chicago some time in the summer of 1999, leaving a devastated Portland, Oregon in her wake. In no time Traci became a regular mention in both the I.N.C. and Michael Sneed’s society columns, playing escort to the likes of Gary Sinise, Billy Corgan and Tim Loftus. But after the galas and fundraisers concluded for the evening, Traci Trouble would even then be wild-eyed and hungry for action. Still tasting the blood of music fans who saw her perform in such bands as Brother Egg and ADD-X, Traci revisited the mercenary musical muse who helped her decimate the Pacific Northwest.
Last but not least, Mikhael Hell was believed to be a deaf-mute until age three when she was caught lip-syncing to Boz Scaggs' "Lido Shuffle" in the bathroom mirror. From there it wasn’t long before she was drumming, guitaring and singing for The Shame. Tragically, Mikhael is afflicted with a rare accelerated-aging disease they showed on Maury once. Although Mikhael is only eleven years old, her body is aging at a rapid rate and she knows her time on this earth is not for long. She is very fortunate to have found such a worthwhile endeavor as playing in The Shame, whereas in the past she was obscenely under appreciated in bands like Sone, Star Hustler, and Das Sporten.
This is all the information we are at liberty to release at this time. In the meantime, the best way to learn more about The Shame is to attend one of their live concerts. We will be in touch again as soon as it is feasible.
Sincerely,
Vena Gore

Press Reviews
"The Shame rocked my pants off. (I had to fashion panties out of plastic wrap just to get to my car.) GO see this band for a great time and be sure to say hi before they turn into rock demi-gods that can't be bothered. I see it in their future."-Vena Gore ˇ¸D |
