Artist History
Six Ways to Sunday was formed in April 2000 at the Molly Wee Pub in New York City. Drummer, Andrew Chapman and lead vocalist/rhythm guitarist, Brian Belfiglio had been playing together since the late 1980s when they attended Hamilton College in Clinton, New York. Bassist, Sean McPherson joined up with the duo after answering their ad for a bass player in the Village Voice. ??Chaps? and I aren?t technically the greatest players, but we can count to four.? remarks Belfiglio. ?Sean can count to eight.? Six Ways to Sunday was born. After practicing together for several months, the band went back to the Voice to find a lead guitarist and complete the group. ?We took out a very deliberate ad that listed influences like R.E.M. and the Replacements to sift out the shredders,? Belfiglio recalls. ?We wanted a melodic, thoughtful, and tasteful guitarist that would compliment our basic, jing-jangly songs.?Enter Keith Otten, a Gibson-toting singer/songwriter in his own right, and already a veteran of the New York music scene. ?Keith was exactly who we were looking for,? notes Chapman. ?He has a great ear for melody and a rich, warm sound.?Belfiglio is the band?s primary tunesmith and along with Otten, Chapman, and McPherson, Six Ways to Sunday isn?t rock?s hardest working band. Otten and Belfiglio both have successful careers with major New York publishers, Chapman is an executive with a leading internet ad firm, and McPherson is a rising music engineer. You can listen to their songs ?Back Home,? ?Chiaroscuro Din,? and their most popular selection, ?Trampoline,? at www.mp3.com/sixwaystosunday. |
