Press Reviews
“JILLEEN HAS HEART FOR MUSIC, TO JAPANESE” By JUDY ERICKSON, GOOD NEWS, ETC. JANUARY 2002
Contemporary Christian musician Jilleen Seiden – who goes by Jilleen professionally – recently made San Diego County her home. Jilleen moved to La Mesa from Orange County in September. October 28 marked her one-year anniversary in full-time music ministry, but Jilleen has been singing for the Lord since age 13, shortly after her salvation at a Christian summer camp. Some of the songs on Jilleen’s first CD, “One King, Two Crowns,” include Japanese lyrics. Jilleen developed an interest in Japan from a roommate at Concordia University. She took her first trip to Japan during the summer of 1994, and has been artist spokesperson for LIFE Ministries in that country ever since. Jilleen also sings for local Japanese congregations once or twice per month. Jilleen has big plans for this year. In June, she expects to release her second CD, this one to be filled with original songs. Trips to Japan are slated for the summer and Christmas time. And her wedding is set for Oct. 12 at Del Cerro Baptist Church, where Jilleen works part-time as the ministry coordinator. Jilleen, 26, described her style as adult contemporary Christian, but said she desires to make her singing more contemporary “to bring it to a broader audience,” including more young people. Local readers can hear Jilleen sing mini-concerts at 8 and 10 a.m. Jan 13 at St. James Lutheran Church in San Diego and at 10 a.m. Jan. 20 at Grace Lutheran Church in Imperial Beach. Then she heads to Northern California and Salt Lake City.
