    Artist History
a brief history of durga- durga has been together over a year now. we went on a mini-tour one summer and it was fun even though everyone had diarrhea in san francisco. we've gone through three keyboard players: mike cancel was a pretentious artfuck who started smoking cigarettes at age 21. left the band when he sold out hardcore. ty detweiler was a spacey prog-rocker who forgot to come to practice and made our songs sound like rush. left the band when he forgot he was in the band. elizabeth raffer was sassy and short. left the band when she moved to portland to get cute lesbians. we also have new bass player now. we love joey the hesh but he could never practice when we wanted to so we let him go. we've played tons of rad shows at the pch (r.i.p.), the che cafe, koo's cafe, spastic plastic (r.i.p.), and elsewhere, with bands like suicide nation, from ashes rise, botch, time in malta, under a dying sun, run for your fucking life, bumbklaatt, dead and gone, creation is crucifixion, the locust, fun people, and harkonen, to name just a few. seven inch just came out with four songs on it. i just want to say thanks to all my friends who believe in me and stand behind everything i do -tara

    Press Reviews
Durga hail from San Deigo and they are very akin to The Locust, though maybe a bit more heavy and oppressive. Sound bite loops, weird sounds, harsh sounding hardcore, and a general sense of "Oh, god, look at us, we're so wacky!" The vocals are a mess. I would call this odd, but in truth this is becoming a genera unto itself, so terms like "odd" don't really fit anymore. Okay, Scotty, beam me up before these Romulans catch me listening to their cacophony - the nice folks over at Heartattack
