Press Reviews
Focus Magazine (Florida) - CD Review (3/16/01) "Here’s a local submission that’s as sonically powerful and creative as anything we’ve heard. We’ll imagine there’s a few doubters in Focusdom (considering our mixed track record), yet, these Sarasoters would easily fit into the overcrowded Sugar Ray/Blind Melon alt radio mix. But that’s the point here. MP207 are an adventurous, emo-leaning unit that use compelling dynamics and an unerring balance between major and minor themes for their material. Relying on rising/falling tension (check the emotional curvature on “Endlessly”), while swerving the happy/sad melodic content (like the opening “The Country Song”), MP207 are credible craftsmen. No need to bludgeon when you’re swinging a velvet hammer. The crunch is indirect (like the understated force for “Round And Round”), but no less stabbing. The lyrics nudge along, before your swept away by a captivating chorus (like the rush of “Angel”). Meanwhile, the rhythms and melodies shift in slow increments, with just enough underground edge that keeps this from drifting down into the poppish drain. Seem destined for much larger things..." |
