Ggreg Perry aka "Spiggott"formed Misery Index during an incredible burst of boredom with his trusty drum machine in St. Louis 1987. In 1991 he relocated to Evanston, retired the drum machineand began searching for musicians to play under the Misery Index banner. The mainstay of all versions of Misery Index has been his ferocious distorted bass tone oncedescribed as the sound of an exploding toilet.Flint Chiovarihas played drums for several basement punk and thrash bands which literally never saw the light of day, but his most memorable work was with south side punk legendsDead Steelmill. His white knuckled hardcore attack was perfect for this mismatched band of loonies. Flint brings power to Misery Index with a tight snare 'pop' and hardmelodic crashes.Rich Feldhauswas the founding guitarist for Milwaukee's Psychobunnies, a punkabilly outfit that started in 1990. As the only guitarist in the band, he developed a sense for making a lot ofnoise with one instrument by filling all the stops and breaks with the wail of feedback. In May 1991, Rich relocated to Chicago and immediately hooked up with Ggreg andMisery Index where he applied this white-noise 'wall of rock' guitar sound ever since. |
