Artist History
Mighty Mahogany began in ’92 with a few friends and their guitars performing original tunes as well as covers from Cat Stevens, Simon & Garfunkel, John Denver, and other early folk artists. Drums were added the following year and eventually bass. They continued to play at the old Pier 54 (which later became The Station) and at Mama’s Café in Provo, a popular restaurant south of BYU campus. Shortly after, with no money and little time, they recorded their first LP (still untitled and extremely rare) consisting of all original songs. The LP was never released. After their recording in 1993, the band took a 3-year break, reuniting again in the fall of ’96. An all-new Mighty Mahogany emerged with all new tunes and with a much more upbeat sound. After a small tour up and down the Wasach Front, Mighty Mahogany found themselves back in the studio, recording their first full length album, “Take It Down Some”. The album was released and had tremendous success. The album was followed up with a single released a year later titled, “High Wire”. This was the first recording involving electric guitar. The single also had a great deal of success. Mighty Mahogany continued to perform all over Utah, promoting their albums. |
